The Delhi Police has arrested five men in connection with a petrol pump robbery on Sunday. The arrest comes days after six people on two motorcycles allegedly robbed a petrol pump attendant at gunpoint in West Delhi’s Mundka area.
A group of individuals targeted a petrol pump station in the Ghevra area of Mundka in West Delhi late on Wednesday night, allegedly discharging multiple rounds of gunfire to intimidate the employees.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, one of the accused was captured striking an employee with the butt of a pistol. Following the theft of money from the cash boxes, the accused and their associates promptly fled the scene. When the petrol pump employees attempted to pursue them, the robbers fired shots into the air, resulting in the injury of one employee who was subsequently taken to the hospital, according to the Delhi police.
All of the accused reportedly entered the petrol pump station on motorcycles, concealing their identities with masks or helmets.
DCP (Outer) Jimmy Chiram confirmed that a complaint had been received, and a team was dispatched to investigate the case.”Several CCTVs and videos were scrutinized to ascertain the registration plates of the motorcycles and trace the accused. We successfully identified two of the motorcycles and apprehended the accused who were found in various parts of Delhi. We arrested five of the accused at their hideouts,” stated the officer. The police also recovered two locally-made pistols, five live cartridges, and two motorcycles used during the commission of the crime.

The accused individuals have been identified as Kailash Mehto (30), Pandav Kumar (20), Guddu (27), Mahavir Kumar (30), and Ashish Kumar (19), all natives from Bhagalpur, Bihar, and neighbouring villages.
During the interrogation, the police ascertained that this gang had no prior criminal records. Their decision to target the petrol pump during the nighttime was reportedly due to the perceived lack of security, according to the police statement. “We are currently questioning them regarding the origin of the pistols and – how they acquired them. Additionally, the motorcycles they used appear to be stolen. We are actively searching for any additional suspects,” remarked the officer.
