Delhi experienced a sudden weather shift on Saturday afternoon as a dust storm swept through the city under a cloudy sky. This change brought some relief to the city, which had been enduring severe heatwave conditions for the past five days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted that due to western disturbances, the national capital might see a change in weather, including cloudy skies, a dust storm, or a thunderstorm with very light rain accompanied by gusty winds. The weather office reported that the maximum temperature in the city is likely to settle around 43 degrees Celsius.

The recent reading from India Meteorological Department (IMD) of 52.9 degrees Celsius temperature at Delhi’s Mungeshpur weather station on May 29 was the result of a “malfunctioning of the sensor”.
Experts from the IMD have found that the automatic weather station (AWS) sensor at Mungeshpur was reporting temperatures “about 3 degrees Celsius higher than the maximum temperature reported by the standard instrument.”
Thunder and rain clouds are moving towards Delhi and NCR from the Haryana side, Skymet VP Meteorology and Climate Change tweeted. "Get ready for a dust storm thunderstorm and rain," the official wrote.
