In an attempt to deceive police, a man from Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar made a PCR call on Saturday, claiming that his father had been killed by two intruders at their home. However, he was ultimately arrested for his father’s murder, officers revealed.

The caller, identified as Mahesh Thakur, allegedly planned the murder in response to a property dispute.

At 8.40 am, the PCR call was received. Thakur initially attempted to place the blame on intruders at his house, claiming that two guys had broken in early in the morning and had killed his father. At 6:15 a.m., he said he heard sounds coming from his father’s room. Upon going to investigate, he discovered that two men had assaulted him with a knife in a state of fear, injuring his left hand. He informed police that his father, retired MTNL employee Gautam Thakur, was dead in his bed and that the intruders had left.

“During the initial investigation, several inconsistencies were found and there were discrepancies in his story,” said Apoorva Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East). DCP Gupta further added that after questioning, he said his father had sold some property two years ago. “From the proceeds, his father helped his elder son purchase property in New Ashok Nagar but Mahesh received nothing,” he added.

In addition, he stated that Mahesh’s eldest brother and his father were secretly planning to sell the house where the family was residing. Mahesh allegedly killed his father while the rest of the family was asleep because he felt betrayed. A kitchen knife, which was used in the murder, was concealed in a water tank on the rooftop of a nearby home.
