The Delhi government has cancelled the renovation tender of Rs 60 lakh for Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence, citing administrative reasons. The previously issued tender received criticism from the opposition, with Delhi’s AAP calling it ‘Maya Mahal’ of CM Rekha Gupta.
The scraped renovation plan for the residential bungalow reportedly included extensive electrical upgrades, such as the installation of 14 air conditioners, multiple televisions worth Rs 9 lakh, and light fixtures worth Rs 6 lakh.
Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA, became Delhi’s Chief Minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in the February assembly elections. Her official bungalow on Raj Niwas Marg in Civil Lines was allotted in June, roughly 100 days post her swearing-in as CM.
The Public Works Department (PWD) had allotted two bungalows on Raj Niwas Marg to CM Gupta – one for her residence and another for her camp office, which she unveiled last Friday. Gupta currently lives in her house in her constituency, Shalimar Bagh.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Gupta directly engaged with citizens and addressed their grievances at her newly opened camp office. During its inauguration last week, she emphasised that public service is the “supreme duty” of her government, signaling a focus on accessibility and responsiveness.
Delhi Cabinet allocates Rs 53 crore for development projects
In a separate development, the Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Integrated District Project Fund and the District Project Fund schemes, allocating a substantial Rs 53 crore for their implementation. These funds aim to facilitate development projects across all government districts, to bypass bureaucratic hurdles and ensure swift execution.
Highlighting the government’s “perform, reform, and transform” good governance mantra, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that this initiative aims to decentralise the system, enabling development projects to be completed efficiently at every level.
