BJP MP Anurag Thakur released a charge sheet against AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on December 23, 2024, accusing him of transforming Delhi into a “corruption lab” through multiple scams. Thakur’s remarks came ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, with the BJP’s state unit forming a “charge sheet committee” to highlight alleged failures of AAP lawmakers.
Thakur criticised the AAP for failing to uphold its promise of a corruption-free government, pointing to alleged scams in the liquor policy, Delhi Jal Board, DTC and Waqf Board. He stated, “Ghotale Pe Ghotala, Kejriwal Ne Banaya Delhi Ko Bhrashtachar Ki Prayogshala” (Kejriwal turned Delhi into a laboratory of corruption through scams), emphasising that the BJP would work to remove the AAP from power.
With elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly scheduled for February, Thakur also targeted the AAP’s handling of education and healthcare. He accused the party of failing to open new Mohalla Clinics and hospitals, while not utilising central funds for improving the city’s healthcare infrastructure. He also criticized the smog tower in Connaught Place, which was meant to reduce air pollution but remained nonfunctional despite significant spending on advertisements.
Thakur highlighted additional issues under the AAP’s governance, including water shortages, poor sanitation, and damaged roads. He further accused the party of supporting “anti-national” forces, citing Kejriwal’s skepticism about India’s surgical strikes and alleged ties with Khalistani elements during the Punjab elections.
