The Delhi Assembly Election 2025 results have brought a mix of victories and defeats for the wealthiest candidates in the fray. Out of the 70 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured 44, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won 21. Counting is still underway for six seats.
BJP’s Karnail Singh, the richest candidate with declared assets of Rs 259 crore, emerged victorious in Shakur Basti, defeating his opponent by 21,000 votes. He will also be the wealthiest MLA in the new Assembly.
Another BJP leader, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who previously belonged to the Akali Dal, secured the Rajouri Garden seat with assets worth Rs 248.85 crore, winning by over 18,000 votes.
Congress’s Gurcharan Singh, with assets of Rs 130.90 crore, contested from Krishna Nagar but lost by 66,000 votes in this BJP stronghold.
BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, ranked fourth among the richest candidates with Rs 115.63 crore in assets. He secured a tight victory against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal by 4,089 votes.
Dhanwati Chandela of AAP, the richest woman candidate with assets worth Rs 109.90 crore, contested from Rajouri Garden but lost to Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
AAP’s Ram Singh Netaji, who contested from Badarpur, is the sixth richest candidate with assets of Rs 89 crore. He secured a decisive win over BJP’s ND Sharma by 25,888 votes.
BJP leader Raaj Kumar Anand, a former AAP leader, ranked seventh among the wealthiest, with Rs 79 crore in assets. He lost from Patel Nagar by over 4,000 votes.
Dr. Anil Goyal of BJP, with Rs 78 crore in assets, won the Krishna Nagar seat by 18,000 votes.
Congress leader Dharampal Lakra, who was the richest candidate in the previous Assembly with assets of Rs 292 crore, saw a sharp decline in declared wealth to Rs 76 crore. He contested from Mundka but finished third, losing by 79,000 votes.
AAP’s Parmila Tokas, the 10th richest candidate, contested from RK Puram with Rs 73 crore in assets but lost to BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma by 14,000 votes.
