Eleven AAP MLAs, including former Delhi chief minister Atishi, have been suspended for the day following the uproar on the tabling of CAG reports in Delhi Assembly on Tuesday. The suspension comes ahead of BJP tabling the 14 CAG reports that are pending for over 500 days. The MLAs were suspended due to the constant sloganeering during LG VK Saxena‘s address.

During the session, when Lt Governor VK Saxena started his speech, AAP lawmakers kept shouting slogans and interrupting his speech. Speaker Vijender Gupta asked the MLAs to remain calm many times, but they kept continued to disrupt the speech. Due to the ongoing commotion, the Speaker decided to suspend the lawmakers for the day.

The AAP leaders who were expelled include Atishi, Gopal Rai, Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi, Veer Singh Dhingan, Mukesh Ahlawat, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed, and Jarnail Singh.

The BJP is set to table 14 CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday. The sloganeering and commotion comes ahead of this tabling.

Atishi had also accused the BJP of disrespecting BR Ambedkar by taking down his portrait from the Chief Minister’s office. “The BJP has shown its true colours by removing Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait. Does it believe Modi can replace Babasaheb?” she said speaking to the media.

She also claimed that the BJP-led government had removed Ambedkar’s portraits from both the Chief Minister’s office in the Delhi Secretariat and the assembly.
