Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, contesting the Kalkaji seat in the upcoming assembly elections, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Sunday to fund her electoral efforts. Addressing supporters on X (formerly Twitter), Atishi appealed for contributions, saying, “Together, we can continue this journey of progress and hope.”
Reflecting on her political journey, she wrote: “Over the past five years, you’ve supported me as an MLA, a minister, and now as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Your blessings and donations have enabled me, as a young, educated woman, to pursue a career in politics—a path I couldn’t have walked alone. As we embark on another election campaign, I once again seek your support.”
Atishi, representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will face BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, a former MP, in the contest.
Speaking at the campaign launch, Atishi criticized the BJP, alleging their reliance on money earned while in power to fund campaigns. “The BJP doesn’t need to collect funds for elections; they’ve amassed wealth during their rule. But we run our government honestly and manage our homes on salaries. That’s why we depend on people’s support to fight elections. Crowdfunding is the biggest proof of our honesty,” she said, as quoted by PTI.
AAP’s campaign is in full swing for the Delhi elections, with its leader Arvind Kejriwal as the centerpiece. Billboards across the city showcase Kejriwal interacting with citizens under the slogan “Phir Laenge Kejriwal” (Bring Kejriwal Back). The visuals highlight Kejriwal receiving blessings and engaging with the public.
Durgesh Pathak, a senior AAP leader, emphasized the campaign’s focus on Kejriwal’s leadership and achievements, contrasting them with governance in other states. “Phir Laenge Kejriwal is not just our slogan but a sentiment shared by the people of Delhi,” Pathak said.
Kejriwal stepped down as Chief Minister in September, paving the way for Atishi to take charge.
