BJP is cruising to victory in the nation’s capital with a comfortable lead as counting continues in Delhi’s election 2025. According to the ECI website, the BJP is leading in 21 seats and the AAP in 9 seats for the election in 70 constituencies, with 27 and 13 seats declared for each, respectively.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to retake Delhi after 27 years, with election results indicating a defeat for the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP, following its tradition of not announcing a CM face for Assembly elections, has stated that a decision will be made following the election results.

BJP Delhi’s chief Virendra Sachdeva has stated that the BJP central leadership will choose the new Chief Minister, considering the interests of workers, despite many names being considered, including Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Dushyant Gautam.
ECI website shows BJP leading in 48 seats as against 22 for AAP in the fight for 70 constituencies.
Dushyant Gautam
In addition to being a Dalit leader, Gautam is the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has support on the ground in Delhi and is one of the likely candidates for chief minister. He is running against AAP MLA Vishesh Ravi from the Karol Bagh seat in an election-style campaign.
As per ECI, Dushyant Gautam is trailing by 8171votes against Vishesh Ravi.
Parvesh Verma
Pravesh Verma, the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, is running against AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. He is among the BJP’s leading contenders.
In the New Delhi seat, contest is close as difference between Pravesh Verma and Arvind Kejriwal is around 430 votes.
Ramesh Bidhuri
A former two-term MP from South Delhi and former three-time MLA of the Delhi Assembly, Ramesh Bidhuri is a well-known face within the BJP and in the political sphere as well. As per ECI, Ramesh Bidhuri is trailing by 3,521 against Atishi in the Kalkaji seat.
Lovely Arvinder Singh
Arvinder Singh Lovely is a Delhi candidate running for Gandhi Nagar’s BJP seat. Prior to the Delhi elections, Singh, the former president of the Delhi Congress, had joined the BJP. As per ECI, Arvinder Singh is leading by 5,264 against Naveen Chaudhary (Deepu) of Aam Aadmi Party
Vijender Gupta
Senior party leader Vijender Gupta could be the contender for the chief minister post if the party wins in the nation’s capital. Despite the AAP’s hegemony in Delhi, he was elected to the Rohini constituency in both 2015 and 2020.
Gupta was the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and the previous head of the Delhi BJP. He is a formidable candidate for the top job because of his background and fortitude in the face of the AAP’s election wave. As per ECI, Vijender Gupta is leading by 14,588 against PARDEEP MITTAL of Aam Aadmi Party
Satish Upadhyay
Satish Upadhyay, a seasoned leader and former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi Unit, is running for the first time as the assembly representative for Malviya Nagar. As per ECI, SATISH UPADHYAY of Bharatiya Janata Party is leading by 4,428 against SOMNATH BHARTI of Aam Aadmi Party.
Rekha Gupta and Shikha Rai are two well-known candidates for a female chief minister.
