Datia Constituency Election Result 2023: The counting of votes for the Datia seat ended as Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra lost his seat to Congress candidate Bharti Rajendra. Mishra contested from the Datia seat for the fourth time this year after winning it consecutively for the last three elections, in 2008, 2013 and 2018.
Mishra lost from Datia seat by a margin of 7,742 votes to Congress candidate Rajendra Bharti.
The ruling BJP saw a landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh once again after the party won 163 out of the total 230 seats in the Assembly. Congress, on the other hand, won 66 seats. One seat was won by Bharat Adivasi Party. The single-phased elections in Madhya Pradesh were conducted on November 17. This time, BJP’s aim was to sustain power while the Congress was striving to make a comeback.
Datia, an assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh, came into existence in 1951, is one of the Vidhan Sabha seats situated in Datia district within the Chambal region. It falls under the Bhind (SC) Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency and is classified as a rural area. The Kushwaha and Brahmin communities are said to influence the constituency. The constituency has 30,000 Brahmin voters, almost equivalent to that of Kushwaha voters.

The seat is one of the most fiercely contested seats which has traditionally witnessed high-pitched battles. In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections, Datia recorded a turnout of 76.77 per cent. The turnout was 75.31 per cent in 2013 and 75.39 per cent in 2008.
In 2018, the constituency saw both leaders locking horns, with Narrotam Mishra sweeping the seat with 49 per cent of the votes. While Mishra got 72,209 votes, Bharti Rajendra secured 47.2 per cent or 69,553 votes. This was the third time that Mishra defeated him. In 2013 too, Narrotam Mishra had bagged the Datia seat with 44.16 per cent, i.e., 57,438 votes, with Bharti Rajendra again facing defeat, securing only 34.87 per cent, i.e., 45,357 votes.

Congress' Bharti Rajendra won from the Datia Assembly constituency by clinching 88,977 votes. BJP candidate Narottam Mishra lost by a margin of 7,742 votes.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday conceded the party's defeat in the Assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, but said that the party's battle of ideology would continue.
"We humbly accept the mandate of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan - a battle of ideology will continue," Rahul Gandhi posted on X.
State Congress president Kamal Nath asserts, "We will analyse the loopholes and why we were not able to make the voters understand our point. We will hold discussions will all, be it a winning or losing candidate..."
As per the latest trends of the Election Commission, BJP candidate and current state Home Minister Narottam Mishra is trailing with a margin of over 7,000 votes, after round seven of counting.

Incumbent CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "Modi ji MP ke mann mein hain aur Modi ji ke mann mein MP hai. He held public rallies here and appealed to the people and that touched people's hearts. These trends are a result of that. Double-engine government properly implemented the schemes of the Central Government and the schemes that were formed here also touched people's hearts. Madhya Pradesh became a family...I had said earlier too that the BJP would get a comfortable and grand majority as people's love for us was visible everywhere."
BJP's Narrotam Mishra has taken a back seat and is currently trailing with 13,105 votes, while Congress' Bharti Rajendra is leading with over 15,000 votes in the Datia Constituency.
