The sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in India soared to even more troubling heights, with the tally crossing the 7,000 mark. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s official dashboard, active cases now stand at 7,121, while 8,573 people have been discharged.
Delhi alone has now been hit with a total of 757 active cases, of which 66 came to light in the last 24 hours. The cured/discharged tally for the capital city came out as 90 since yesterday.
At 170, Kerala saw the highest surge in active Covid-19 cases since yesterday, bringing its total to 2,223. Gujarat came in next with 114 cases, followed by Karnataka’s 100. All of these have been attributed to new variants, including LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1 subvariant.
Covid-19 deaths in India
State-wise data further noted that six new death had been reported in the past 24 hours. Of this fresh death toll, one was reported in Maharashtra, 2 in Karnataka and 3 in Kerala. This raises the total death tally since January 2025 to 74.
The Maharashtrian case in question claimed the life of a 43-year-old male, who had to deal with breathlessness, abdominal pain, distress, tachycardia and cyanosis. His immune system has also been compromised.
Among the two deaths in Kerala, one was a 51-year-old female with Hypertension and the other a 79-year-old male with Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Seizure disorder, Osteoporosis, Old CVA, Cervical myelopathy, Benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Lastly, Kerala Covid-19 cases led to three deaths, including an 87-year-old woman, a 78-year-old man and a 69-year-old male.
