Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was admitted to a Bengaluru hospital on Wednesday for a pacemaker transplant. This was not a sudden admission, but a planned one to get a pacemaker transplant.
Why is Kharge hospitalised?
Earlier reports had said that the party chief was admitted after he complained of leg pain and developed a fever. The report added that the doctors at Bengaluru’s MS Ramaiah Hospital are currently treating Kharge. However, Kharge’s son Priyank, later took to X and said that he was “advised pacemaker to be implanted and is admitted to the hospital for the planned procedure. He is stable and doing well.”
Kharge scheduled to visit Nagaland on October 7
Kharge is supposed to visit Kohima on October 7 to address a public rally at Naga Solidarity Park. The announcement was made by Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir, who also heads the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee.
After the rally, Kharge will hold separate meetings with senior members of the Congress Political Affairs Committee, the Pro-Committee, and district-level Congress leaders.
Congress leaders said the rally is not just a party event but a political platform to discuss the challenges facing Nagaland and the Northeast. Citizens, especially from minority groups, have been urged to take part and raise their concerns so that regional leaders can take them forward.
