Parliament winter session: An unlikely guest at the Parliament stoked a controversy on Monday after Congress MP Renuka Chowdhary slammed the ruling party. While coming to the Parliament for the winter session, Congress’ Renuka Chowhdhary picked up a dog and brought the animal to the parliament as well. When asked why, she explained the situation in which she had to pick the animal.
But moments later, she used the opportunity to attack the NDA leaders. She also asked if there’s any law that bars the MPs from bringing an animal. However, she added, the dog was only in the car and not inside the premises.
“Is there any law? I was on my way. A scooter collided with a car. This little puppy was wandering on the road. I thought it would get hit. So I picked it up, put it in the car, came to Parliament, and sent it back. The car left, and so did the dog. So what’s the point of this discussion?” she said.

She then added that those who bite people everyday, a veiled dig at the ruling NDA coalition. “The real ones who bite are sitting in Parliament. They run the government,” she said.
‘Does the government have nothing else to do?’
The Congress MP also questioned the priorities of the government, asking why a dog was so important to them, rather than issues. “Does the government have nothing else to do? I sent the dog home and told them to keep it at home…” she said.
“They don’t like animals? ‘Waah Sarkar!’ If a mute animal wandered into a vehicle, why are they so bothered? Did they see a dog that bites? The ones who bite are inside Parliament, not the dogs,” the MP said, adding that nobody talks about those “who sit in Parliament and bite us every day.”
Parliament session begins on stormy note
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the press ahead of the session, and said there should be “no drama, only delivery” during the time the House sits. The remark hasn’t gone well with the opposition, with many saying if the BLOs dying to the SIR workload is also a drama.
In Rajya Sabha, the proceedings began with the welcome of Vice President and Chairman CP Radhakrishnan. PM Modi began the welcome address, followed by other leaders including Congress chief and LoP Mallikarjun Kharge.
Kharge also said that the previous chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar made a “sudden exit”, and the House couldn’t bid farewell to him. He urged the new Chairman to remain impartial and said, “People say you are from NDA.”
The session will be in place till Dec 19.
