Delhi Red Fort terror attack: The probe into the deadly car blast outside the Red Fort metro station in the national capital has seen planning, nexus and coordination between the suspects, most of whom are doctors. At the centre of all is Al-Falah University – where Room 13 in building 17 was allegedly used by Dr Muzammil and Dr Umar Nabi Mohammad to sketch the sinister plots for a larger attack. The officials have now recovered a diary and notebook from their rooms, reported IANS.

The diaries, found in Dr Umar’s room number 4 and Dr Muzammil’s room number 13, have certain coded words and some indications to dates between November 8 and 12, the agency stated. The references are understood to hint at some ongoing planning during that period.

There are also names of 25 people, most of whom are from Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad. The agencies are tracking these people as it goes deeper into the ‘white collar’ terror module. A diary was also found from Muzammil’s room, where 360 kg of explosives were earlier found in Dhauj, Faridabad.

Focus on Dr Umar, the man who drove the car

The investigations into the man inside the car, Dr Umar Nabi Mohammad has led police to his family and with the DNA test done, it has been confirmed that it was him inside the car.

Umar drove the i20 car to several locations before arriving at the parking lot near the blast site, where he remained for a couple of hours, before driving to the Red Fort metro station.

The forensics collected the DNA from bone fragments, teeth, and pieces of clothing recovered from inside the mangled remains of the i20, and it matched his mother’s.

And the other car, red Ford EcoSport, believed to be belonging to Umar, has also been recovered from a farmhouse in Haryana. The farmhouse is allegedly owned by man who is Umar’s friend, and he is also being questioned.

A larger conspiracy was being planned

Details about Umar are also emerging as the investigation progresses. The agencies said he carried out the blast in “panic” after cops busted other operatives. He was perhaps scared.

According to Indian Express, police sources said that Umar and Dr Ganai were “key members” of the module. The two were slowly stockpiling explosives and detonative materials for months now.

“What we know so far is that Dr Umar was the one who would talk more about carrying out spectacular attacks,” Indian Express quoted a highly placed source as saying. Their families maintain the two had no knowledge about each other, but officials believe they have been in touch since 2018.

Police sources believe that the entire module was working for a bigger plan, perhaps a series of blasts”. The NIA has taken over the probe.

The Central government has vowed to punish those involved.
