A cloudburst hit Kullu’s Lag valley in Himachal Pradesh earlier today, August 19. The cloudburst triggered heavy rainfall, washed away several crops, shops, and portions of land, reported PTI. As many as 389 roads, including two national highways, have been closed, with power cuts in several areas. This comes just days after the deadly cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar, where more than 40 people died.
Additionally, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) instructed all educational institutes to remain closed on Tuesday due to rampant rainfall, landslides, and road blockages. Reports suggest that a cloudburst incident was noted in Banjar as well, with repeated occurrences of flash floods and landslides in the valley. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Kullu as well.
