A shocking incident unfolded at Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad’s Khokhara area on Tuesday, August 19, when a Class 8 student allegedly stabbed and killed a Class 10 student following a scuffle.

The victim, rushed to a private hospital in Maninagar, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police have taken the suspects into custody. Police have collected CCTV footage from the school and spoken to several students who saw the attack.

Officials said the exact chain of events will be established only after a detailed probe. Meanwhile, the District Education Officer (DEO) has issued a notice to the school for failing to immediately report the matter and for allegedly trying to conceal it. The school has been directed to submit a comprehensive report along with the CCTV footage, according to the media reports.

Mob vandalises school property, attacks staff

Following the death, large numbers of Sindhi community members gathered at the school and the situation quickly turned chaotic. The angry mob entered the school and damaged buses, cars, and bikes parked there.

They also attacked staff members, dragging one by the collar and beating the principal and other teachers. The school’s property, including doors and windows, was left badly damaged.

Police resort to lathi-charge

Despite police presence, the mob continued thrashing staff and even attempted to overturn a police vehicle.

A big crowd gathered outside the school, shouting slogans and blocking the road. The local MLA, senior police officers including DCP Baldev Desai and the ACP, reached the spot. Members of Bajrang Dal, VHP, and ABVP also came there. As the situation became tense, the police had to use lathis to control the violence.
