The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct of the medical entrance exam National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) held on May 5.

They said the agency is also taking steps to bring under its ambit cases registered in various states by police, said officials.

The CBI has registered a new case against unidentified persons under IPC sections including 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating), based on a reference from the Ministry of Education.

On Saturday, the Ministry handed over the probe to the CBI.

The NEET-UG exam, which took place across 4,750 centres and attended by approximately 24 lakh candidates, has been marred by allegations of irregularities, cheating, impersonation, and malpractice, prompting widespread student protests demanding a thorough investigation.
