CBI investigators interrogated Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of Kolkata’s Kar Medical College, for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, as part of their ongoing investigation into the rape and murder of a female doctor. Ghosh arrived at the CBI’s city office at the CGO Complex early in the morning, according to officials.

During the questioning, Ghosh was asked to detail his actions and communications upon learning of the doctor’s death, including why he delayed informing her parents for nearly three hours. Investigators also inquired about his involvement in the decision to renovate rooms near the seminar hall in the hospital’s emergency building following the incident.

The CBI has been questioning Ghosh for several hours over the past three days. The interrogation had started on Friday. They are examining his mobile phone call records and WhatsApp conversations as part of their investigation.

Ghosh, an orthopedic doctor, resigned from his position as principal of RG Kar Medical College two days after the doctor’s body was discovered on August 9. He had expressed concerns about personal safety, leading his lawyer to seek protection from the Calcutta High Court. The court instructed him to approach a single bench for further proceedings.

The postgraduate trainee doctor’s body was found in a seminar room at Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. In connection with the case, police arrested a civic volunteer the following day.
