Sushant Singh Rajput death case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially filed closure reports in two high-profile cases related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, as per officials. One case was filed by the actor’s father, K K Singh, accusing Rhea Chakraborty of abetment to suicide and financial misconduct whereas a second case was registered by Chakraborty against Rajput’s sisters on alleged medical malpractice.
No proof was found against the allegation
CBI has submitted its final report on Singh’s complaint before a special court in Patna and a separate closure report on Chakraborty’s case was submitted to Mumbai court. The court will decide whether to accept the findings or to order further investigation.
The probe took about five years including expert medical opinions, forensic analysis, inspection of the crime scene, and statements collected from Rajput’s inner circle.
The CBI has not found conclusive proof indicating that anyone influenced or drove Rajput to take his own life. A forensic report of AIIMS has been cited in the investigation which has rejected earlier claims of strangulation or poisoning. The postmortem report conducted at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital has also concluded the reason of death was asphyxia due to hanging.
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer welcomes closure report
Commenting on the development, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has welcomed the CBI’s decision. ‘’We are grateful to the CBI for having thoroughly investigated every aspect of the case from all angles and closed the case, ‘’ he stated, as quoted by PTI.
He also criticised the intense media scrutiny that was involved in the case. ‘’ Innocent people were hounded and paraded before cameras. Rhea experienced immense mental trauma and even spent 27 days in jail before being granted bail,’’ Maneshinde added.
Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. His death triggered a nationwide debate, conspiracy theories and intense social media campaigns that lasted for years.
