The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) received a bomb threat via email from an unidentified source using the name “Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan,” Mumbai Police said on Tuesday (July 15). The email claimed that four RDX IED bombs had been planted in the BSE tower building and would detonate at 3 p.m.

Mumbai Police, along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog units, launched a full-scale security check but found nothing suspicious.

Police have registered a case against an unknown individual at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg Police Station under sections 351(1)(b), 353(2), 351(3), and 351(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The BSE statement reads, “On the night of July 13, BSE received a bomb threat via email from an unknown id. As a precautionary measure, BSE has stepped up its diligence and supervision at its premises immediately and filed an FIR on this issue. All relevant authorities have been informed of the said mail. Preliminary checks carried out by the relevant authorities have not found any suspicious element. The Exchange’s operations remain unaffected and continue as normal. We express our sincere thanks to the Mumbai Police and emergency response teams for their prompt and professional response.”
