Himachal CM Sukhu announces Rs 4,500-crore package to aid disaster-hit people

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday announced a special package of Rs 4,500 crore, including Rs 1,000 crore under MGNREGA, to aid people affected by rain-related disasters during the July 7 to September 30 period. Of the total package, Rs 3,500 crore is for disaster-affected people and Rs 1,000 crore is to be used under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the construction of retaining walls, he told reporters.

India-England warm-up match called off due to persistent rain

The ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up match between India and England has been abandoned after persistent rain put paid to hopes of a tune-up for either team ahead of the 50-over showpiece from October 5. The match was to be hosted at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday. Persistent rain did not allow a single ball to be bowled in India’s first practice match.

India to host PATA Travel Mart 2023 in New Delhi

RBI extends the last date to exchange Rs 2,000 notes

Large-scale transfer of IAS officers in Uttar Pradesh

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister Yogi Adityanath-led government has transferred and posted eight Indian Administrative Officers including changing six district magistrates. The District Magistrates of Fatehpur, Sultanpur, Maharajganj, Barabanki, Jhansi and Bareilly have been changed. Two IAS officer has been given additional charge with their current postings.

Major fire breaks out at factory in Pune’s Dhayani

A major fire broke out in a factory in Dhayani area of Pune City on Saturday. A total of 5 fire fighting vehicles and three water tankers were rushed to the site of the blaze. The fire has been doused, officials said.  Further details are awaited. (ANI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the concluding ceremony of two ‘Parivartan Yatras’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bilaspur city of poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Saturday, a party leader has said. The prime minister will address the ‘Parivartan Mahasankalp’ rally, the closing ceremony of two Parivartan Yatras, at Science College ground at 2 pm, state BJP chief Arun Sao told reporters on Friday.

3 workers fall to death from under construction building

Three workers died after falling from the 13th floor of the under-construction Zaveri Green Building in Ghuma, Ahmedabad. The incident happened at night when the workers were working. According to the police, a worker slipped and fell due to which other workers also fell. A third worker came to save them, but he also fell and was seriously injured.

MP CM Chouhan promises job to each household in state if BJP retains power

AIU Trichy seizes gold worth Rs 23.84 lakhs

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), Trichy seized gold worth Rs.23.84 lakhs in three separate cases. DC, Trichy Customs said, “In the first case, a gold cut piece was concealed in the pant pocket of a passenger from Kuala Lumpur. In the second and third cases, gold was concealed as buttons of jeans pant and gold was sprayed on a transparent sheet wrapped over a carton box from passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur respectively. A total 401 gms of gold valued at Rs.23.84 lakhs was detected and seized.”
