Oil falls $1 on demand fears

Oil fell on Wednesday, as Saudi Arabia’s announcement to continue crude output cuts to the end of 2023 was offset by demand fears stemming from macroeconomic headwinds. Brent crude oil futures were down 58 cents, or 0.64%, to $90.34 a barrel at 0841 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) fell 66 cents, or 0.74%, to $88.57 per barrel. Both contracts traded more than $1 lower than Tuesday’s settlement price at their intraday nadir on Wednesday, with Brent falling to $89.83 a barrel, and WTI to $88.11 a barrel. (Reuters)

Mumbai local train update

A coach of an empty local train derailed at Mumbai Central station on Wednesday, disrupting the suburban train operations, a Western Railway official said. There was no report of injury to anyone, the official said. A wheel of the local train derailed at a crossing point while it was entering a car shed at around 11.30 am, he said. According to some commuters, train operations on the slow line were affected due to the incident, as bunching of trains took place between Churchgate and Mumbai Central stations. (PTI)

Russia may lift ban on pipeline diesel exports in coming days

The Russian government is ready to partially lift its ban on diesel exports in coming days, the daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The ban would be lifted only on pipeline exports of diesel and volumes may be subject to quotas to avoid surges in wholesale prices, the newspaper reported.
