The Bombay High Court has asked Netflix to stop screening of the web series on Indrani Mukerjea, which was scheduled to be released tomorrow. The matter will be next heard on Thursday, February 29, reports Bar and Bench.
The series titled ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth’ delves into the disappearance of 25-year-old Sheena Bora, and Mukerjea is the prime accused in the case.
The court has also ordered Netflix to arrange a special screening for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers.
The CBI had objected saying that the web series could affect the investigation of the case, its outcome and people’s perception, the court said.
A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Manjusha Deshpande said, “They (CBI) should be permitted to view. The release can be deferred by a week, heavens are not going to fall.”
