The BJP criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for ignoring the conditions of the capital’s road for the past ten years and only taking action just 10 weeks before the assembly elections. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the Public Works Department (PWD) which comes under AAP’s jurisdiction is not able to maintain the city’s infrastructure. Sachdeva pointed out that AAP’s supremo Arvind Kejriwal along with Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, and current PWD Minister Atishi are the people responsible for the bad conditions of the roads.
Last-minute repairs won’t get votes
Delhi’s BJP President also stated that AAP’s sudden effort to mend the roads, headed by PWD minister Atishi, is a way to seek votes for the upcoming elections. He also mentioned that ” no matter of last-minute repairs or surveying of the roads will save this government”.
According to Sachdeva, now the government has suddenly decided to make Delhi’s road free of potholes just before 10 weeks of the elections. He also alleged that the reason behind the deplorable conditions of the roads was the lack of cleaning of the sewers and drains which ultimately resulted in waterlogging. The corruption in the Delhi Jal Board and PWD is also one of the reasons for the poor conditions of roads across the capital.
Last month, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal after surveying the roads handed over a letter to Chief minister Atishi in the Delhi assembly and urged her to start working on the repair of the damaged roads on a war footing.
