A nurse in Bihar defended herself by using a surgical blade to cut the private part of a doctor who, along with two accomplices, allegedly attempted to rape her. The three men have been arrested by the police.

Dr. Sanju, from Begusarai district, along with Sunil Kumar Gupta from Vaishali and Awadhesh Kumar from Mangra, reportedly consumed alcohol and, under its influence, began harassing the woman at the healthcare centre. When Dr. Sanju attempted to assault her, the nurse grabbed a surgical blade and inflicted an injury on him before fleeing the scene.

She hid in a nearby field and contacted the police, who, led by SP Vinay Tiwari, arrested the doctor and his accomplices at the hospital. Dr. Sanju is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

The nurse, who had been employed at the hospital for 10 to 15 months, told the police she acted in self-defence. Upon investigation, officers found blood-stained bed sheets, mobile phones and alcohol bottles at the scene and discovered that the hospital’s CCTV cameras had been disabled.

This incident follows a recent tragedy in Kolkata, where a doctor was raped and murdered inside a hospital seminar hall. The incident has sparked weeks of protests by junior doctors demanding justice.
