Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan, commonly known as Pappu Yadav, has reached out to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting increased security due to a threatening call allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Yadav, who represents Purnea, shared a two-page letter with the media, copies of which were sent to the Chief Minister of Bihar and other senior officials. Dated October 21, the letter was made public on Monday, coinciding with the release of an audio clip purportedly from an aide of Bishnoi, which originated from a Dubai phone number.

In his letter, Yadav requested an upgrade of his ‘Y’ security detail to ‘Z’ and insisted on having a police escort at all public events across Bihar. He warned that if he were to be harmed, the responsibility would lie with both the central and state governments.

Purnea Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma stated, “We became aware of the MP’s claims through the media. We are investigating the matter and ensuring his safety in line with his current ‘Y plus’ security arrangement.”

Yadav, a former gangster turned politician, alleged that the threatening call was a reaction to his critical remarks about Bishnoi on social media. Following the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai, Yadav declared on social media that he would dismantle Bishnoi’s network “within 24 hours” if legally permissible. He later expressed support for Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who is also targeted by Bishnoi due to a past incident involving the killing of blackbucks, an animal revered by Bishnoi community.
