Bihar Elections 2025: Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer, Vinod Singh Guniyal, has said that the Election Commission of India has introduced several new measures this time for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, as per Live Hindustan. For instance, voters in the state will receive their voter slips four days before the polling takes place, allowing them to reach their booths on time.
Guniyal also confirmed that no polling booths will be relocated this year. In previous elections, booths were sometimes shifted for various reasons, but that will not happen this time.
Speaking at a press conference held at the CEO office on Monday, he said that all enforcement agencies will become active from Tuesday and begin election-related actions. He also noted that the Model Code of Conduct came into effect immediately after the election announcement. Guidelines have been issued to remove political posters and banners from all government, public, and private buildings and locations.
In response to a question, Guniyal said that instructions will also be given to the relevant agencies regarding posters placed at petrol pumps and other locations.
32 assembly constituencies identified as high-expenditure areas
Based on experiences from previous Bihar Assembly elections, 32 constituencies have been identified as high-expenditure areas, reported Live Hindustan. These constituencies will be closely monitored by income tax authorities and other agencies. It is notable that in the last elections, large amounts of cash were seized from these areas. Officials also confirmed that there will be no heli dropping at any polling booth in this election.
Efforts are underway to identify sensitive polling booths. Sector officers and police officers have already visited areas with 9–10 booths two to three times. Booths will be formally marked as sensitive based on their reports.
In addition, around 2,100 booths have been identified in six districts of South Bihar that were previously affected by Naxal activities. However, no major incidents were reported from these areas in the last election.
Voters urged to participate
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) urged all voters to actively take part in the Assembly elections and encourage others to do the same. He said that preparations like checking the EVMs, training election staff, and ensuring citizen facilities at polling booths have been completed, while some other tasks are still in progress. A state-level control and command center has also been set up to manage the elections.
Voters will also get special information through an app developed by the Election Commission. Facilities will be provided for elderly and differently-abled voters, including home voting options and ramps and wheelchairs at polling booths. Efforts will be made to raise awareness among young voters and encourage them to cast their votes.
The press conference was attended by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Amit Kumar Pandey, Prashant Kumar CCH, Additional Secretary Madhav Kumar Singh, Ashok Priyadarshi, and other officials.
