Bihar Elections 2025: Bihar Assembly elections are likely to be held in November first week. While there has been no official communication made by the Election Commission on the dates so far, it is expected that the polling will take place after Chhath Puja festivities conclude on October 28.
Representatives from 11 recognised political parties met with the EC on Saturday to share their views on the upcoming polls. The political parties also suggested the poll body on the number of phases in which voting can be conducted.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who led a two-day review visit to Bihar along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, said the panel was considering all inputs carefully. “We have listened to parties suggesting how many phases there should be, and the Election Commission will take a decision soon. Everything has pros and cons, and we will look into it,” Kumar said in Patna on Saturday.
Bihar election 2025 dates
The Election Commission’s visit comes as the state gears up for a crucial electoral season that will coincide with one of Bihar’s biggest festivals of Chhath Puja. The festival is expected to see a large number of migrant Biharis returning home, which could significantly boost voter participation.
While the exact poll dates are yet to be announced, the Election Commission is expected to reveal the official schedule in the next week. Typically, such state visits are followed by the announcement of election dates within days. The current term of the Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22. The CEC said that the polls will be completed before that date.
