Patan Constituency Election Result 2023: Congress leader and Chhattisgarh’s incumbent CM Bhupesh Baghel has once again restored victory from Patan constituency. Baghel won the seat with a margin of 19723 votes. He defeated his nephew and BJP leader Vijay Baghel by gathering over 95000 votes. Vijay Baghel did give a close contest to his uncle as he gathered over 75000 votes. Bhupesh Baghel had successfully secured victory five times from this seat since 1993. Vijay, who was associated with the Congress until 2000, had later switched to the BJP. The uncle and nephew duo had earlier faced each other twice in electoral battles, in 2008 and 2013, each winning once.
In 2018, Bhupesh Baghel got 84352 votes while Motilal Sahu of the BJP secured 56875 votes. The margin of victory was 27477 votes. In the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections of 2013, Bhupesh Baghel had emerged victorious in the Patan constituency, garnering 68,185 votes. In contrast, Vijay Baghel of the Bharatiya Janata Party received 58,842 votes. The margin of victory for Bhupesh Baghel was 9,343 votes. Going back further, Vijay Baghel from the BJP emerged victorious in the Patan constituency in 2008, securing 59,000 votes. Bhupesh Baghel, on the other hand, received 51,158 votes. The margin of victory for Vijay Baghel was 7,842 votes.

Bhupesh Baghel is currently leading in Patan with a margin of over 10,000 votes than BJP's Vijay Baghel.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday attributed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) lead in the Assembly election trends to the people’s faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s works and guarantees. “The people of the state have shown faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s works and guarantees. The PM, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda gave sufficient time (for electioneering) in Chhattisgarh,” Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
“The people have shown faith in Modi’s guarantees and not Baghel’s promises, which is evident in the trends,” he added.
