In response to ongoing heavy rainfall, the District Collector of Bengaluru has announced a holiday for all schools and Anganwadis in the city on Monday, according to ANI. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students and staff as the adverse weather conditions have led to waterlogging and significant traffic disruptions across various parts of the city.

Degree Courses and ITIs Remain Open

While primary and secondary schools will remain closed, degree courses, post-graduate programs, diplomas, engineering colleges, and ITIs are not included in the holiday announcement. The decision was communicated verbally due to the urgency of the situation, with an official order expected to be issued shortly.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms to continue for at least the next three hours, raising concerns over safety and mobility in the city.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have also issued advisories cautioning commuters about waterlogging and slow-moving traffic in multiple areas. Key routes affected by rainwater accumulation include the CID Office, Palace Road, Gajendra Nagar, Nellasandra, Hosur Road, Siddapur Road, Wilson Garden, Jayamahal Road, JC Nagar, Coffee Board Layout, Bannerghatta Road, and Jayanagar. Commuters are urged to cooperate with traffic authorities and avoid these locations whenever possible to minimize delays.
