A massive fire broke out at a factory in Delhi’s Bawana industrial DSIDC area earlier today, May 24. Triggering a major explosion it resulted in a building to collapse as per officials. “Seventeen fire tenders were rushed to the spot in Sector 2 after a call was received at 4.48 am,” Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said.

The fire triggered an explosion inside the premises, due to which the building collapsed, officials said. They added that rescue operations are underway as firemen are trying to douse the fire.

Divisional Fire Officer, Ashok Kumar Jaiswal shared with ANI that, “…The building has collapsed and there are inflammable materials in the building… No one has been injured in the incident…The fire is almost under control…”

No injuries and casualties have been reported so far. With Delhi’s celsius rising by the hour, heat wave conditions have triggered fires in the past. While the Eastern coast remains on red-alert for cyclone like conditions, the north-western monsoon has hit parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Konkan and Goa. Heavy thunderstorm and hail was reported in parts of northern India earlier this week, the weather remains uncertain. While the cause of the fire is still not known, the Fire Department is making their best efforts to contain damages.
