Delhi Education Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Friday broke down after Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, in the liquor policy case.

“Today the truth has won, the students of Delhi have won. He was put in jail because he provided good education to poor children,” Atishi said while speaking at a school in the national capital.

According to Atishi, the current Delhi education minister, the Supreme Court’s verdict is a victory for the man (Manish Sisodia) “who shaped Delhi education revolution”.

“This is the victory of truth,” Atishi added. “He was implicated in a false case. He gave a bright future to the children of Delhi. Today we are happy and now we are waiting that in the same way, Delhi’s popular Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also come out. This is the victory of the people of Delhi.”

A bench of justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan said trial has not yet commenced, Sisodia has been deprived of the right to a speedy trial. Following the order, the AAP called the verdict a “victory of truth” and hoped that other jailed leaders of the party “will also get justice”.
