Huma Qureshi’s cousin killed: The Delhi Police informed ANI that Asif Qureshi, aged 42 years, was murdered on August 7 in the late hours of the night in Church Lane, Bhogal. He was reportedly involved in an altercation with the accused over the issue of parking a scooter. During the altercation, one of the accused attacked Qureshi with a sharp pointed object (poker) on the chest, as revealed in the agency report. 

Following this incident, an FIR was registered under Sections 103 (1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) today, August 8. The PTI released a video that reportedly caught the incident on a surveillance camera installed nearby. Three-four men can be seen outnumbering a person and thrashing him.

The accused were identified as Ujjwal, aged 19 years, and Gautam, aged 18 years. Both were apprehended by the Delhi Police and an investigation into this matter is underway.

Delhi Police unclear about familial bond with Huma Qureshi

DCP Hemant Tiwari shared with PTI the details of the incident and stated that they have received no confirmation whether Asif is related to actor Huma Qureshi. Tiwari stated that the call was received at the PCR that the victim of a brawl was brought to the National Heart Institute. Qureshi was declared dead before he could reach the hospital. There is no official statement from actor Huma Qureshi yet.

Eyewitness accounts

Wife of deceased Asif Qureshi spoke to IANS and said that the act was deliberate and he was “conspiratorially killed”. Describing the incident, a relative explained that Qureshi tried to move a parked scooter. Seeing this, hunky men, she gestured, came on to Qureshi and hit him with a sharp iron object. “As soon he was hit, he fell and started bleeding,” reported IANS. The attackers reportedly entered their house with boulders, the relative revealed.

Another eyewitness account revealed similar details, but the quest for Asif Qureshi’s murder weapon continues. He, too, seemed confused about what he was attacked with. His brother was rushed from Nizamuddin in Delhi who took nearly 20 minutes to arrive.

Saurabh Bharadwaj comments on ‘law and order’ in Delhi

Aam Admi Party (AAP) President Saurabh Bharadwaj commented on the deteriorating condition of law and order in Delhi. He questioned why “no one has any fear of the law.” Bringhing a political spin on the matter, he blamed the law enforcement watchdogs to involved in “political work”. He said that the authorities’ “only task seems to be to falsely implicate AAP leaders.”
