Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has supported his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, who has claimed that the Centre deployed Indian Army at different locations in West Bengal without the permission of her government. Banerjee’s claim seems to have backfired as documents accessed by media have revealed that the Army had sought prior permission from the state government about the routine exercise conducted on Toll plazas in the state.
Kejriwal, however, said that the entire nation is with Mamata in this “fight.” “WB is being targetted becoz Mamtadi dared to speak against demonitization. Mamtadi, keep up the fight. Whole nation is wid u,” the Delhi CM tweeted today.
On Thursday, Mamata had suggested military coup in West Bengal in a series of tweets. “Very unfortunate. Army stationed in front of Nabanno, the Bengal State Secretariat in a high security zone, inspite of Police objection. I am waiting here at the Secretariat and watching, to guard our democracy.”
Banerjee had threatened that she would not leave the Bengal state government secretariat unless the Army is withdrawn. “Until and unless the Army stationed in front of Nabanno, the Bengal state govt secretariat, is withdrawn. I will be staying at my Secretariat to guard our democracy.”

The Eastern Command of Indian Army, however, said that Army’s presence was part of a routine exercise. “Army conducting routine exercise with full knowledge & coord with WB Police. Speculation of army taking over toll plaza incorrect,” it said in a tweet.
However, Bannerjee claimed that the Army was lying. “Absolutely wrong and misleading facts by @easterncomd We have great respect for you, but please please don’t mislead the people,” she tweeted.
