Telugu actor Allu Arjun was questioned by police for over three hours on Tuesday in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at a screening of Pushpa-2 in Hyderabad on December 4.
Arjun arrived at the Chikkadpally police station just after 11 AM, accompanied by his father, Allu Aravind, and lawyers. The questioning, led by Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav, continued until 2:45 PM.
In anticipation of the actor’s appearance, security was heightened at the police station, with heavy police deployment and traffic restrictions around the area. Arjun had been issued a notice on December 23 to appear before the police for questioning regarding the stampede and to help clarify facts related to the incident.
Earlier that day, security around Arjun’s residence in the upscale Jubilee Hills area was also increased. The actor waved to the media before leaving for the police station. He has previously stated that he would cooperate with the investigation.
The stampede took place at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during a screening of Pushpa-2, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman. Her eight-year-old son was also hospitalised.
Following the incident, the police filed a case against Arjun, his security team, and the theater management under different sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family. Allu Arjun was named as accused number 11 in the case.
On December 13, Arjun was arrested but was granted four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court the same day. He was released from jail the next day.
