The signboards of Akbar Road and Humayun Road in Delhi were defaced on Saturday (February 22), with black paint sprayed over them and posters of Chhatrapati Shivaji pasted on top, police sources reported.

The incident reportedly took place after a group of individuals watched Chhava, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer period drama based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji, Shivaji’s son and the second ruler of the Maratha Empire.

Videos circulating on social media showed several youths spraying black paint on the street signs and covering them with images of Chhatrapati Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire.

Police and civic teams were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the defaced signboards were cleaned. Authorities have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible.

Law enforcement is closely monitoring the area to prevent further vandalism and maintain public order.
