A London-bound Air India flight with around 242 people on board crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon, just minutes after takeoff. The tragic moment was captured on video, showing a big fire ball after the crash and heavy smoke rising from the Meghani area.

The Boeing Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 to London Gatwick, took off around 1:47 pm and lost contact with air traffic control just nine minutes after being cleared for departure. Eyewitnesses have captured the moment on camera and the video has quickly surfaced online, showing the moment of the crash and the aftermath.

According to media reports, there was a mayday call made to the ATC from the flight which crashed outside the airport after taking off. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu expressed deep shock over the Ahmedabad flight crash, calling the incident devastating. He said he is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed all aviation and emergency response teams to act quickly and in coordination.
