Five people, including a woman, have been arrested by Agra Police in the alleged gang rape of a woman at a hotel in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, police officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place at a homestay accommodation in Basai, Tajganj area. Among the arrested individuals, one woman was implicated following the incident’s reporting.

The victim, aged around 25, an employee of the hotel, was captured in a viral video being assaulted by a group of men.
According to the police, the call informing about the incident was received from the victim herself late Saturday night, to which immediate action was taken, and police reached the homestay to apprehend the accused.

Archana Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Agra Sadar, stated on Sunday, “On Saturday night, Tajganj police received a call that in a rich homestay, a woman here had been raped and was assaulted. According to the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been filed under relevant sections,” as ANI reported.
“Four men and a woman have been arrested after the incident. The medical examination of the victim will be done, and legal action is being taken in the case,” the ACP said.

“We got a call at around midnight on Saturday from the victim who was crying for help. We rushed to the homestay and took action against the accused. The victim’s age is about 25 years old, and she works at the homestay,” in charge of Basai police post, Mohit Sharma told PTI.
“She narrated the whole incident to us about being raped and said she was beaten by the accused. They had also broken a glass bottle on her head. She was also forced to drink alcohol,” he added.
It was also stated that the objectionable video of the victim that was made by the accused was used to blackmail her.
A case has been registered against the accused in the case under rape, assault, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway.
