Ever Since January mega ‘pran pratishtha’ of Ram Mandir back in January, Ayodhya (Faizabad) has been in national news. A politically important region, the temple city witnessed BJP’s sitting MP losing the 2024 Lok Sabha Election as Samajwadi Party clinched the seat by huge margin.
Amid this political upheaval, what is largely going unnoticed is the massive real estate boom in Ayodhya. An Indian Express report on Tuesday said that since 2019 when the Supreme Court gave the critical judgment, there has been a sharp 30 per cent increase in the land deals in and around Ayodhya.
Within the radius of 15 km of Ram Mandir, several villages have seen big land transactions. From big politicians to senior officials to mega corporate houses, 25 villages in and around Ayodhya have become a real estate hub.
The key buyer of real estate in Ayodhya happens to be the Adani Group, according to the IE report. Homequest Infraspace, a subsidiary, was incorporated last year. This entity bought 1.4 hectares of agriculture piece of land in Majha Jamthara. According to the IE report, the Group, while confirming the land transaction worth Rs 3.55 crore, said that this land was meant for ‘future development.
Next in the long list of land buyers are Mumbai’s House of Abhinandan Lodha. The IE report said that between June last year till March this year, the Group bought 12,693 sq m of ‘residential’ land and 17.73 hectares of agriculture land in a village called Tihura Majha. This area is roughly 12 km away from the Ram Mandir complex.
Other land buyers include Karnataka’s Vyakti Vikas Kendra and Sawarthia Developers, Delhi’s Galgotia Hotel and Resorts, UP’s Ramakulam Regency LLP among others. While Vyakti Vikas Kendra has bought land worth Rs 9.03 crore, Sawarthia Developers has registered a transaction worth Rs Rs 26.64 crore. Ramakulam Regency LLP has bought an ‘agriculture’ land worth Rs 7.30 crore. Meanwhile, for Galgotia Hotel and Resorts, its director Dhruv Galgotia has purchased ‘residential’ land worth Rs 7.57 crore, the IE report said.
