The BJP is set to table 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday, which reportedly have been pending for more than 500 days. This is bound to create trouble for the AAP as the spotlight is expected to shift on them once again with these pending reports.

Citing sources, news agency ANI has said that these reports include important reviews of different government programs and actions. The delay in presenting these reports has raised concerns about the transparency and accountability of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government.

The submission dates show that many of these reports were pending for a long time after being given by the CAG to the Finance Minister of Delhi between 2023 and 2024. Many of these reports focus on important policies introduced by the former AAP government, such as the liquor policy and the health model in the city.

In December 2024, Delhi LG VK Saxena had slammed former Delhi CM Atishi for not presenting the CAG reports to the Delhi Assembly. This also led to a special session which was called on Dec 19-20. Saxena, in a letter to Atishi, had said that it is the government’s duty to present all audit reports to the legislature. He pointed out how important these reports are for transparency and accountability.

He noted that, despite several reminders, the CAG reports had been held back for two years. Saxena called the failure to present the reports a “deliberate lapse” and slammed the government for not showing complete transparency.
