Famously (or infamously), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was hounded by fashion critics for not shedding her weight after giving birth to Aaradhya in 2011. The internet practically blew up when photos of the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actress walking Cannes’ red carpet while still having a few extra kilos. It’s no wonder that Bollywood’s leading ladies almost go into hibernation during their pregnancy to avoid the glare of the shutterbugs.

Kareena, however, took a different approach. She gave moms-to-be serious fashion goals by proving that just because you have a baby bump, doesn’t mean you have to dress in tent-like dresses. The Udta Punjab actress stayed every bit as chic as she was before her pregnancy. No one would have dared shame Kareena as she proudly flaunted her baby bump while walking the ramp for Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Can she stop the shameful pressure on women to shed their pregnancy weight? Of course, the actress has said that she’ll return to movies within a month of giving birth, so what remains to be seen is whether we’ll see Kareena’s pregnancy weight on the big screen – something that would certainly pave the way for actress who come after her.

In an interview with HT Brunch, the star had earlier said, “If you’ve put on a bit of weight on your face, your arms etc when you’re pregnant, it’s okay. It’s the only time you can proudly flaunt the extra kilos and say ‘I’m a woman, and this is what God has made, and it’s such a beautiful thing.”
