Uber is pushing beyond ride-hailing and food delivery as it builds what its leadership describes as a “super app.”
The company is now widening its ambitions to include self-driving technology and data-driven customer offers.
Here’s how much Uber pays across key tech roles, including product managers and data scientists.
Senior engineering leaders at Uber can earn as much as $410,000, while senior staff engineers make over $300,000, according to work visa filings that offer a rare look into the company’s salary structure for foreign hires. The data comes from H-1B visa disclosures submitted to the US Department of Labor, which list base pay but exclude stock grants and other benefits.
“We’re slowly moving towards a super app of sorts,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said.
The filings show Uber significantly expanded its H-1B hiring in the 2025 federal fiscal year, submitting 945 applications, up from 778 a year earlier, as it invests in new technologies such as self-driving vehicles and personalised user offers.
Tech and engineering roles draw the highest salaries
Among the highest-paid positions are Computer and Information Systems Managers, who can earn up to $410,000. Staff Software Engineers are paid between $225,200 and $258,800, while Manager, Engineering roles range from $231,700 to $287,000. Manager, Applications Development salaries fall between $195,600 and $210,500, and Senior Manager roles pay $234,100 to $299,700.
Other disclosed salaries include Staff Software Engineer, TLM at $242,000 to $249,300, and Senior Director, Engineering, which commands $360,000 to $410,000. Software-focused roles such as Software Engineer, Software Engineer II, and Software Engineer III earn between $98,516 and $188,084, while Senior Software Engineer salaries range from $151,819 to $242,000. Senior Staff Engineer roles pay as much as $312,700.
Data, operations, and product roles show strong pay bands
Data-focused positions also feature prominently. Scientist, Tech salaries range from $111,966 to $176,400, while Senior Scientist, Tech roles pay $151,700 to $207,200. Applied Scientist roles earn $133,100 to $179,100, and Senior Applied Scientist salaries range from $186,307 to $208,062. Staff Scientist, Tech roles are paid $219,100 to $250,000.
Uber’s filings also show competitive pay for operations and management roles. Product Manager salaries range from $158,700 to $197,000, while Senior Technical Program Manager earns $202,500 to $231,400. Operations Research Analysts can make up to $185,300, and Strategic Operations Manager roles pay $111,900 to $166,600. Other roles disclosed include Product Designer, Manager, Strategy and Planning, and Senior Manager, Strategic Finance, with salaries going up to $206,000.
