Shark Tank India investor and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal recently shared an update on Sharma Ji Ka Aata, a company he invested in 18 months ago. In a LinkedIn post, Mittal highlighted how the Pune-based flour brand has grown from a small chakki generating Rs 1 lakh per month in revenue to a business now operating from a 20,000-square-foot factory and nearing Rs 1 crore in monthly revenue.

Mittal described the company’s growth as a story of resilience rather than rapid funding or scaling. “This isn’t a tale of funding rounds or blitzscaling—it’s a story of resilience,” he wrote.

According to Mittal, the company’s founder, Sangeeta Sharma, started grinding her own atta in 2016 after discovering that store-bought flour contained chemicals and additives. Her decision came amid personal challenges—her son suffered a severe intestinal injury, and her husband had a cardiac arrest.

What began as a way to provide unadulterated flour for her family soon grew into a larger business as demand from neighbours and local customers increased.

Mittal noted that when he invested in Sharma Ji Ka Aata during Shark Tank India, it was still a small operation. In his post, he outlined the key factors behind the company’s success:

“The best businesses often start with solving a personal problem. They focus on passion and product over endless planning and they build brands that resonate with authenticity,” Mittal wrote in the post.

Sangeeta Sharma’s sons, Pranav and Tanishq, now oversee growth and operations, while she remains focused on maintaining product quality, the post added. Mittal also shared his personal connection with the Sharma family, stating that they now refer to him as ‘Sharmaji ka beta.’
