Bengaluru-based science research institute IISc’s innovation centre in deeptech Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID) on Thursday launched a product accelerator programme Pravriddhi for enterprises, academia and research laboratories, and investors to collaborate for innovation and development of new products to back the government’s vision for self-reliant India. 

The institute said Pravriddhi will promote market-driven and design-led manufacturing to enable India to innovate and compete on the global stage. 

Speaking on the launch, Prof. Govindan Rangarajan- Director- IISc, said, “As India strives to meet ambitious economic and industrial goals, challenges like import dependency, global competitiveness, and workforce readiness persists. With Pravriddhi, we aim to tackle these challenges by providing access to IISc’s world-class facilities, R&D expertise, and a robust network of strategic partners across India.”  

The accelerator will address challenges of import dependency, global competitiveness, and workforce readiness and will look at setting up of excellence across the country as a force multiplier.

Promoted by IISc, FSID comprises of CORELabs that engages with large corporations in collaborative research, STEMCell that incubates startups with deep science and societal impact, TIME that works with midsized enterprises to put them on a growth path via innovation, and SEED that works on science and technology-based interventions in rural India.
