Paytm FASTag March 15 Deadline Ends TODAY: The deadline to to switch from PayTm FASTag to others ends today, March 15. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) extended the deadline for obtaining new FASTags until March 15 due to the Reserve Bank of India’s restriction on the use of PayTm Payments Bank as an authorized service provider.
Among the seven crore FASTag users in India, PayTm accounts for approximately two crore, constituting nearly 30 percent of the total user base. The digital payment platform has been inundated with requests to close both its wallet and FASTag accounts as it strives to secure new banking partners to sustain its services.
Starting from today, PayTm FASTag users will no longer have the option to recharge their accounts due to the RBI’s directive prohibiting PayTm Payments Bank from facilitating top-ups. Upon closure of the account, any remaining balance will be transferred by PayTm to the customer’s linked bank account. However, individuals opting to retain FASTags issued by PayTm can continue to use them as long as the account maintains a sufficient balance.
Paytm FASTag Deadline March 15: How to close PayTm FASTag?
There are two methods to close a PayTm FASTag account.
Firstly, users can contact PayTm customer care at 1800-120-4210 and request account closure. They will need to provide their Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) to the customer service representative, who will guide them through the process.
Secondly, users can use the PayTm app itself. After logging in, they should navigate to the Help and Support section, located under the user profile. Within this section, they should select FASTag under the Banking Services and Payments category, and follow the prompts to proceed. Another option is to search for ‘Manage FASTag’ within the app, select the FASTag they wish to close, and click on the ‘close FASTag’ option.

To apply for a new FASTag, it’s essential to close the old FASTag account entirely. The NHAI has published a revised list of authorized banks that are eligible to issue FASTags. Individuals can download the My FASTag app from the Google Play Store, which provides the option to purchase a new FASTag. Additionally, customers can directly approach the banks listed by NHAI to buy FASTags from them.
