Delhi Traffic Latest Update: The national capital city has been battling traffic congestion for more than a week now. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory in an attempt to reduce traffic congestion in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area. The advisory will be implemented beginning today, February 22.
The plan will be implemented as a ‘trial’ for five days starting February 22 to February 26. The plan includes changes such as one-way traffic on Faiz Road and restrictions on various turns.
This is an attempt to curb traffic issues at the Bagga roundabout in central Delhi. The Bagga roundabout connects Jhandewalan to Ridge Road and extends to Pusa Road. The enormous Hanuman idol is the landmark near the roundabout.
The advisory was issued on Wednesday and aims to alleviate frequent traffic congestion by providing clear directives for traffic flow.
Delhi Traffic: Changes to be implemented on ‘trial’ basis
According to the advisory, Faiz Road will be open for one-way traffic from the Bagga roundabout towards Rani Jhansi Road and the traffic in the opposite direction will be restricted.
The advisory stated that incoming traffic on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road from the Karol Bagh side would be restricted to proceeding straight up to Rani Jhansi Road, without the option to turn right towards Faiz Road.
Similarly, vehicles approaching from the Paharganj railway station side would be permitted to continue straight ahead and prohibited from making a left turn towards Faiz Road.
Traffic from the Liberty Cinema side heading towards New Rohtak Road would only be allowed up to the T-Point Rohtak Road, with the option to turn left to access the Rani Jhansi Flyover.
If the five-day trial plan proves successful, the traffic police are anticipated to adopt it as the standard procedure to ensure smooth and easy traffic flow.
