The Badrinath Highway, which was earlier blocked due to debris at Pagalnala and Nandprayag, has been reopened for all types of vehicles, according to the Chamoli Police. Swift action by the district administration facilitated the clearance, ensuring the smooth resumption of traffic.
In a social media post on X, Chamoli Police confirmed the update: “The blocked road at Pagalnala has been opened for all types of vehicles” . The highway had been rendered inaccessible earlier in the day due to heavy debris caused by landslides in Pagalnala (Jyotirmath) and Nandprayag.
Meanwhile, in Uttarkashi, continuous landslides from the Varunaavat mountain have prompted the district administration to propose the displacement of families living in the buffer zone. These measures are seen as essential for long-term safety amid persistent rainfall.
Uttarkashi District Magistrate Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht stated, “The landslide occurred in a new location, causing minor damage. Precautionary steps have been taken to relocate nearby families until the monsoon ends. Arrangements for their stay have been made.”
A technical team has been deployed to monitor the landslide-prone area, with experts from various departments providing insights for future safety measures.
