Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has pleaded to Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to speed up the completion work of the Teok-Sivasagar highway in Jorhat because of its miserable condition.
As this highway falls under Gogoi’s Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, he has urged the minister to look into the matter on an urgent basis. Gogoi underlined that the highway construction has been held up for several years. The delay in the construction work is leading to frequent mishaps and traffic jams. This highway is considered as one of the crucial route for enhancing the regional network. He shared the information via a video message directly from the site.
‘’I urge Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri @nitin_gadkari to get involved in the matter and take prompt measures,’’ Gogoi stated in a video posted on his X account. He elaborated on how the community is facing extreme problems because of the stalled construction work.
Gogoi is anticipating that the minister will take appropriate action for the completion of the project. He also added that Gadkari has recently paid a visit to Jorhat.
The MP also mentioned that the project has faced several roadblocks till now. The reason behind this was that many contractors had left the project halfway and numerous tenders had been issued without much development.
