Free Entry To Mumbai: In a significant move ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a complete toll waiver for light motor vehicles at all five toll booths entering Mumbai. This announcement was made during the state cabinet meeting held in Mumbai.
The toll waiver will take effect from midnight on Monday, providing relief to motorists as they enter the city. The decision is seen as a strategic initiative by the government to ease travel for voters and encourage greater participation in the upcoming elections.
In addition to the toll waiver announcement, the Maharashtra cabinet expressed its shock and condolences over the recent killing of former state minister Baba Siddique. The cabinet adopted a resolution to honor Siddique and reflect on the loss felt within the community.
