Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Atishi has granted approval for projects focused on the rehabilitation and strengthening of numerous roads across the Shahdara district.
The primary objective of these initiatives is to enhance the overall commuting experience and improve connectivity within the district, as outlined in a statement released on Sunday. The approved projects will encompass nine specific roads in Shahdara.
Global standard transportation network
Atishi emphasised, “The Kejriwal government is dedicated to establishing a resilient and secure transportation network in line with global standards.” She further highlighted that the sanctioned road-strengthening projects in Delhi exemplify the government’s commitment to delivering world-class road infrastructure for the city’s residents.
The reinforcement of these roads is anticipated to have a positive impact on thousands of individuals in the area by alleviating congestion and improving connectivity from main roads to residential colonies.
Addressing infrastructure challenges
The minister pointed out that these roads had been constructed and upgraded a considerable time ago, leading to their gradual deterioration. A comprehensive assessment of the roads was conducted by the PWD in collaboration with experts, prompting the initiation of the upgrading process.
Atishi underscored the importance of minimising disruption to commuters during the construction phase, issuing a directive to adhere strictly to global standards for ensuring the development of high-quality roads.
